Dental crowns—what to expect?

Dental crown procedures usually require two appointments. During the first appointment, highly accurate moulds, or impressions, of your teeth will be taken in order to create your own custom crown. These moulds will also be used to create a temporary crown which will stay on your tooth for approximately two weeks, until your new dental crown is fabricated by our laboratory.

Your tooth will be numb during the procedure where your dentist will prepare the tooth by removing any decay and properly shape the surface to fit the crown. A temporary crown will be placed with a temporary cement to ensure that you are capable of biting properly.

During your second appointment, your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your newly fabricated crown will be carefully placed to ensure the spacing and bite are accurate. NE Calgary dentist, Dr. Bosch, will encourage you to attend regular visits to ensure that your new crown is properly functioning.

Dental bridges in NE Calgary

Dental bridges replace one of missing teeth to restore the teeth to its original state. It extends across an area that has no teeth and is firmly held in place by your own teeth or dental implants on either side of the missing teeth. A bridge is permanent and cannot be removed which can last as long as ten years or more.

Regular cleaning and flossing is required in order for you to care for your dental bridges. The same level of care must be administered to these as you would do with your own teeth.
