A smile can decide who gets the job
Missing or broken front teeth change how people see you in an interview, and how you see yourself. For a lot of people starting over, it's one of the last things standing between them and work.
The people who need dental care most are often the ones nobody plans for. Years inside, a hard stretch with addiction, or time without a home can mean years without a dentist. Many of them now qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, and very few have ever used it. We started Job-Ready Smile to clear every one of those walls, one person at a time.
Many people with low or no income qualify for the federal dental plan.
Applying is online, screen after screen. After years away from computers, that's where most people stop.
No car and no bus fare can mean a missed appointment. So we cover the ride.
You still need a clinic that takes the plan and treats you like any other patient.
Four steps, and we help with each one
Get covered
Once a month, our outreach partner comes to partner houses and programs for an hour and works through the Canadian Dental Care Plan application with residents on our tablets, one-on-one or in a small group, until it's done. We cover our own time and travel, so there's no cost to the house or to you.
Get booked
Aviation Dental accepts the plan and can book you in. Questions about your coverage? Ask us when you book.
You're never obligated to use our clinic. Your coverage works at any dentist who takes the plan.
Get a ride, on us
Getting there shouldn't be the reason you miss care. For Job-Ready Smile patients, the clinic covers a rideshare to and from your appointment. Tell us when you book and we'll set it up.
Get care without judgment
Our team is training to care for people with a history of substance use, incarceration or trauma. Nobody here needs your story to treat you well.
What our team is training for
Coming to the dentist after a long time away can be hard. Our staff are going through training to make it safe and simple.
Safe medication choices
We ask, privately, about everything you take, prescribed or not, including any substance use or recovery medications. That isn't to judge you. It's how we choose numbing and pain medication that are safe for you.
Your recovery comes first
If you're in recovery, tell us and we'll plan your pain care around it, together.
Recognizing when it's not safe today
Some treatment isn't safe when someone is unwell or under the influence. If that's the case, we'll kindly help you rebook instead of turning you away for good.
Straight talk, at your pace
We're upfront about what your plan covers, what it doesn't, and how far your coverage can take you. Then we move as fast or as slowly as you're comfortable with. What you share stays private.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan, in short
You may qualify if all of these are true:
- You don't have dental insurance through a job, pension, family member or a plan you bought.
- Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000.
- You filed your taxes in Canada last year (and your spouse or partner did too, if you have one).
- You're a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
Depending on income, the plan pays for all or part of covered care. See every way to get dental care covered in Calgary.
Partner with us
Your staff know your residents far better than we do, so the program runs through you. Here's what we ask:
- A short meeting or call to walk through the program.
- Bulletin board space for a plain fact sheet on the plan and a few clinic cards, if that's allowed.
- Referrals from staff for residents this would help most.
- What staff look for: taxes filed for last year, no dental plan through work or family, and someone who wants to work on their smile.
- Residents who can apply on their own just need the fact sheet. Anyone who's been away from computers a while gets the monthly walk-through.
Our promise to partners: no cost to your organization, nothing to sign, and no resident is ever obligated to use Aviation Dental.
